Kapellen is known as a passage-route for pilgrims, on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
By suggestion of the Flemish Compostela society, the local council decided to place a sculpture of Saint Jacob by the Saint- Jacobs Church.
The local council contacted Sint-Lucas Academy of Visual arts in Kapellen to make some designs for this sculpture. Carla Ferilli was assigned for this project. With the students of the multidisciplinary studio 10 designs where introduced. The design by Valley Moors was selected.
The statue is coordinated by Carla Ferilli and made in cooperation with D.B.M., Essen(B) and Tummers, Hoogerheide(NL). It is made of stainless steel that weighs about 1ton.
