The project was supervised by teacher and coordinator Carla Ferilli. The students of the multidisciplinary studio of the Sint-Lucas Academy of visual arts in Kapellen made sketches and models for a sculpture in stainless steel intended for a pond in the gardens of RVT Zonnewende.
The artwork is part of a series of four. In 2008 we were asked if we wanted to create an art project for the new pond. When we accepted we decided to represent our four different disciplines.
The painting department was represented with an oil painting by Vera Lauwereyssens. Our printmaking depatment was represented with a woodcut print by Ria Crikemans, for the drawing department a grand drawing was created by Suzan Meijers and the multipledisciplnary department ensured the model by Barry Schulien for the sculpture.
At that time our new multidisciplinary studio was still in negotiations and in the starting blocks. The sculpture was a great challenge for us.
Sint – Lucas Academy Kapellen was in association with Don Bosco Mariaberg Institute in Essen and four private companies to be able to produce such a complex artwork.
